Bali Usada Health Meditation is a unique meditation technique based on old Balinese traditions, with wisdoms rooted across the Indonesian Archipelago, India and China combined with the broad personal experience of the meditation teacher, Pak Merta Ada, gained during his time as a holistic healer and meditation teacher.
This meditation is taught by Pak Merta and his assistants to beginners as well as advanced meditation practitioners. Since 1993 Bali Usada has conducted hundreds of retreats and many participants of all faiths and many nationalities have learned this meditation.
Pak Merta Ada has over the years become a leading meditation practitioner throughout Indonesia, combining concentration meditation and wisdom meditation into the unique “Harmonious Mind Meditation.”
His skills in applying Health Meditation as an alternative treatment and the remarkable track record of meditators who were able under his guidance to heal themselves from various sicknesses have also won him recognition beyond Indonesia.
For most of us it is not so easy to acquire and maintain the good health and happiness we are longing for. Stress at work, high demands and expectations in the family, in relationships and in social life; wealth and status as well as the lack of it; and the tensions resulting from unfulfilled expectations (in both directions, towards others or from others towards us) all influence our physical and mental wellbeing and often create barriers for our happiness. The increasing load of chemicals and pollution in food and air as well as environmental deterioration and resulting climate variations can all have negative effects on our health. Without self-awareness, appropriate understanding and protection those mental and physical challenges may lead to sickness and suffering.
What is so special about Bali Usada Health Meditation
One of the main programs of Bali Usada is a well-structured seven-days, six-nights retreat, known as Usada Tapa Brata where meditators learn the simple but very effective Bali Usada Meditation Technique, which provides them with a comprehensive toolbox for gradually removing their individual barriers for physical and mental wellbeing and increase their happiness and health.
Tapa Brata means “intensive retreat in silence, training our mind and body by meditation, for achieving peace and happiness from within through the development of a Harmonious Mind.”
Prior to the occurrence of Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, the Usada Tapa Brata was conducted at Bali Usada’s meditation centers in Bali and other cities in Indonesia, and some retreat places outside Indonesia for 7 days 6 nights. In the current pandemic situation, this program is offered online using Zoom cloud meeting platform. The content of the online program remains the same with the residential offline program. Hence, although conducted online, participants are expected to observe silence during the retreat to achieve maximum result.
The Meditation Technique and Process
Bali Usada Meditation combines concentration meditation with wisdom meditation into the unique “Harmonious Mind Meditation” with a focus on healing. To develop a Harmonious Mind, bearing the combined qualities of concentration, mindfulness, loving kindness and wisdom, meditators learn to observe and gradually understand the present reality inside their mental-physical structure, through feeling their breathing and the physical sensations in their bodies.
Practicing “Noble Silence” during the first five days of the retreat is important to strengthen one’s concentration and sensitization. The holistic Bali Usada teaching package consists of forty-five minutes guided meditation sessions, with explanations and instructions, daily discourses, physical exercises, Question and Answer Sessions and individual consultation with the teacher or his assistants.
The Results
As mind and body become healthier, meditators will experience a new inner world of happiness, peace and harmony from within. They will gradually get relieved from the pain of traumatic old memories, which altogether will not only result in enhanced physical and mental wellbeing but also in healthier relationships.
Many meditators from all walks of life have already cured themselves from conditions like nervousness, depression, addictions, viral infections such as influenza, herpes, hepatitis, hereditary ailments, insomnia, cancer, tumors, impotency, diabetes, high blood pressure, cholesterol, as well as got relief from a range of sufferings based on traumatic life experiences.
About 30 percent of meditators come back regularly and repeatedly join the retreats in order to deepen their meditation skills and intensify healing and self-discovery in the protected and conducive environment of the retreat centers under “Nobel Silence”.
With the online program, now meditators are able to do it from their own preferred places to suit their individual conditions.
